25 Days of Christmas for My Husband

I am really excited about this idea I have for my husband this Christmas. Last week I realized that I often go out of my way to give, encourage or bless others (especially during the holidays) but I don’t give that same effort for my husband. And I should be giving more! I am married to him…not anyone else!

So this year I am planning a 25 Days of Christmas surprise for him. And don’t worry, he doesn’t read my blog, so he shouldn’t find out. (This is a good thing right now….but we’ll talk later. haha J )

Starting December 1, I will do one special thing each day that will show my husband I really do love him more than anyone. Because of our ever-changing schedule, I knew this idea would never be carried out without some planning. So I got out our calendars and created a separate one just for the 25 Days.

I scheduled his favorite meal on a night he will be home for dinner and a plan to greet him with cider and cookies on a night he works late. I scheduled a day to go golfing with him and an afternoon at a restaurant of his choice to watch a football game of his choice.

There will be surprise visits to his office and random notes of encouragement. And for the weekend I will be out of town, I’ve come up with a fun activity with a redeemable “prize” upon my return home. J

There are also some gifts I plan to buy him using the gift cards and extra cash I earn online. I usually set these aside for family and friends gifts…but this year, my husband deserves some perks while we keep the budget intact.

I am really looking forward to Christmas this year, simply because of this plan to spoil my husband with attention. He deserves every bit of it! I’ve realized how easy it can be to overlook many of his needs or desires….and we don’t even have kids yet! I need to fix this before we do…right now!

It doesn’t take much to block off an evening on the calendar and make a plan to devote time to him. I will be making this a habit more often. But hopefully after 25 days of concentrated effort of loving my husband, it will become more natural to include his interests in my day instead of letting the routine of life push him out.

And I’d like to offer a friendly challenge to you to come up with something out of the ordinary special to bless your spouse this Christmas. Let’s not allow our loved ones to be forgotten in the hustle and bustle of the season. If you come up with something fun, please share it!
Merry Christmas!
