Week of Prayer // Day Two: Adoration for Abba (Father God)

Prayer is not just about asking God to do things for us – it is spending time with Him. Prayer is communication in which there is giving and receiving. God freely gives to us so much every day in all things. So today is all about lavishing love on God.

Types of Prayer

Adoration & Praise
This type of prayer is simply recognizing how awesome God is! It is naming all the good things He does; admiring His handiwork; exalting His attributes. Start with telling Him what your relationship with Him means to do. Look around you at your blessings, at creation. Praise Him for being GOD!

Prayer Guide

I love to dwell in your presence God; there is no place I’d rather be…
How lovely is Your tabernacle,
O Lord of hosts!
 My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God…
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:1-2, 10-11

Thank You, Lord, for all you do for me…
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1-5

Thank You for loving me and adopting me as Your own…
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
…. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:14-15, 38-39

Your Law and Your Word are perfect. Help me to love it more each day…
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
Psalm 19:7-11

You are magnificent Creator and Lord over all the earth…
Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
Sing praises on the harp to our God,
Who covers the heavens with clouds,
Who prepares rain for the earth,
Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.
He gives to the beast its food,
And to the young ravens that cry.
Psalm 147:7-9
