Joyful Focus for June

I have been doing a lot of doings lately. I love doings. But sometimes in my doings I lack thankfulness and joy, just because I am so distracted by doing.

So this month, I hope to spend more time on enjoying. I don’t mean to stop doing, but shift my focus to engaging in the Joy God provides in the midst of the doings. More time spent thanking Him for His treasured moments.

I am inspired by the book One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp (go read it….as soon as possible). It is about the author’s journey to recognize God in the moments of life. Simple moments, joyful moments, confusing ones and heartbreaking ones. He is in all of it, somehow, somewhere – do we see Him?

I love capturing those moments. I want more of them this month.

So I will be keeping a list of my one thousand gifts. I found myself a cute notebook that I can take with me anywhere to record my gratitude for the moments. Some of which I will share with you.

I also plan to celebrate Joy and show Gratitude more through photography. I hope to follow a month of photo prompts (like the one I did in December) that will stretch my creativity and reopen my eyes to this God-given life.

Most importantly, I need more time in prayer. Giving thanks to God and receiving Grace from Him. I need prayer to become like breathing.

This month I expect refreshing and joy overflowing. Will you join me?
